Weekend Review
Thursday:
Flew to Michigan around 9am and got there about 1:30pm-ish. Mom and Dad picked us up and we visited with them for a bit. We were both tired so we ended up napping for about an hour before my brother, Chris and his wife, Kelli showed up for dinner. Mom went over board on the food and Dad made sure the wine glasses were full all night long. Was a great time. We ended up going to bed around midnight because I wanted to get some sleep before the weekend.
Friday:
Got up and did the breakfast thing. Dad let me take his Blazer to CMU so we didn't have to rent a car. Very nice of them to let us use their car. We left Lansing around 11:30 and got to Mt. Pleasant around 1pm. Checked into the hotel and then got some lunch. Poor Jerry had to endure me driving around campus telling him what was where and if I had any classes in that building and stuff like that. Lisa, my college roommate got there around 3pm. We cracked open some beers and then decided to go to the bookstore to buy some college paraphernalia. I got a couple of cute t-shirts. I haven't had college shirts in over 15 years. Was nice to have my alma mater represented again. One by one more of the gang showed up and we reminisce and drank more beer. (lots of beer...) About 7pm everyone arrived and we walked, yes..We are sometimes responsible, over to Bennigans for dinner. Ordered more drinks and had a nice meal while trying to catch up on each others lives. We must have been there for about 3 hours. Was a good meal and we had a good time. After dinner we thought we'd head to the Wayside, a local club and do some dancing. We were going to walk but it was pretty cold and farther then we expected. Jerry wasn't as toasted as us so he drove me and Lisa, the rest of the gang was lagging behind so we just left without them. We paid our $4 and headed into the clones of college kids. All the girls were dressed the same. Low rider jeans, camisole tops and either high heels or flipflops. Was an endless sea of the same girl. We also noticed that they didn't really dance. They kind of tried..And let me stress the TRIED to appear sexy and do some cage dancing. Unfortunately it looked very robotic and not very sensual at all. Guess you can't emit what you don't possess. We left after an hour and headed back to the hotel where everyone was still drinking. They were waiting for us but never could find us so they didn't bother going to the club. No biggie..It was a flop. So more drinking and laughing until around 2am.
Saturday:
7am I get up and a bunch of us head over to the stadium to watch the Marching Band rehearse before the football game. We see more alumni and catch up with all of them. I can't believe how many people actually showed up. So many familiar faces. Was great to see everyone. After rehearsal we packed up all the cars. I think we carted 9 in the blazer, downtown to watch the homecoming parade. We were going to march but we all decided we'd rather drink more beer. So the parade goes by and after the band passes we head into the Pub and order pitchers of beer and order some cheeseburgers. The best, greasiest burgers in the world. 10:30am is never too early for burgers and beer. After filling our tummies we head back to the hotel so we could leave the cars and walk over to the game. Great game, we won 37-10. But the best part, the band and the band alumni. Yes....I'm a band geek. Damn proud of it too!! The only bad thing...It was cold and windy. Ten years in florida has thinned my blood so by the end of the game I was ready to be indoors. I guess the half pint of Hot Damn didn't keep me warm enough during the game. The guys were pretty wiped out. So the wives took off and went shopping. Men relax by watching TV...woman..well...we shop :) 20% off with game ticket was reason enough for us to head to the University Bookstore for more paraphernalia. We headed back and the guys were hungry. So we try to decide where we are going to eat. Ever try getting 17 people to decide where to go? Finally around 8pm we head over to Italian Oven for dinner. Good meal, was quiet so we could all chat and not have to yell to hear each other. Was odd too...the only alcohol that was ordered was wine. We're so old :) :) After dinner we head to Kroger and hit the beer, wine, liquor aisle to head back to the hotel and drink more. We popped in napoleon Dynamite and played drinking games to the movie. My side still hurts from laughing. We all crashed pretty early that night...1am.
Sunday:
9am we all head to Bob Evans for breakfast before we split and head out. Poor wait staff had no clue how to handle us. Needless to say, more laughing and great conversation. We got out of there around 11am and headed back to Lansing to visit with Mom and Dad before getting on the plane to head back to Jacksonville.
It was an amazing weekend. Jerry finally got to meet all my friends. They loved him, he loved them. It was beautiful!!
I love you Animals!! Peace out!
