Why am I up at 2am?
When I should be asleep because I have to work at 7am? I don't know if any of you remember the accident back in December. This time I heard it. We were laying in bed sleeping when I heard the car hit the telephone pole right outside our bedroom window. It seemed like the crashing noises went on for 5 minutes but I know that isn't true. I hopped up and grabbed the phone and dialed 911 and as I did walked to our porch to see a silver SUV about 2 houses down crosswise in the road. I also noticed the telephone pole on the grass and splinters everywhere. Apparently from the neighbors gossip the guy left his vehicle afterwards and started running down the street. When the police arrived they checked out the car and then they went speeding off to find him. I didn't see it but others said there was lots of blood on the dashboard of the car. It looks like it rolled a few times.
I should mention that we live on a one way street. The posted speed limit is 30 mph but in both accidents the person was going more than 70 mph. Sure, I break speed limits. I'm not going to lie but 40 mph over the posted limit...uh..no. Also there is a curve right before our block which makes the speeding dangerous. Both cars lost control right at the point the curve starts. They are talking about making our road a two way road. Right now I'm not sure that it will be any safer. Maybe we need Barney Fife to sit on the corner and watch for speeders. I'm not sure...I do know that waking up to the sound of a car crashing is not pleasant in any way.

Mark, who lived on a sharp corner, can relate to having people crash so close to your house. They actually had one person crash up on their porch!
ReplyDeleteHope you can catch up on sleep when you get home from work. :)
No...we didn't take any pictures this accident because the vehicle finally ended up like 4 houses down and I was cranky and tire. I could take a picture of the utility pole on the lawn but that's boring. You are always welcome to review the pictures from the last accident.
