Hi I'm Jeanne, and I'm a registered Republican...

I don't really get into politics that much. I have to say that I'm not up on all the legislation that goes on locally or federally. This post is pretty much a political rant. I do try to pay attention to what is going on but sometimes they government just doesn't make much sense to me.

I did see that they want to raise minimum wage to $7.25. It is about @#$%ing time. Although the republicans tacked on a tax cut for the wealthiest....grrr. It's really a crime how many families struggle trying to make a good living.

Oh yea..let me rant about another thing. As I stated I am a registered Republican. I receive a lot of campaign propaganda in the mail. Usually I don't comment on it but this latest was just too much. Wasn't the actual content of what the material said but that it was on high gloss heavy weight paper. Do you really need to spend that kind of money to get your ideas out? Maybe this is why I don't send contributions to the party. Petty maybe but this is what is being done with peoples contributions. I would think that there could be better uses for that money.

I am glad to hear that the wiretapping issue has not died out. I do think it is very scary that investigators are not being "cleared" to do proper investigations. Exactly what is trying to be covered up? *sigh* The president (and yes I did not capitalize it on purpose) has circumvented checks and balances and it needs to be stopped.

Gay Marriages, Abortion, stem cell research, while all are important is it more important than homelessness, hunger and crime? Locally, Jacksonville has had 93 homicides this year alone. Correction...94 homicides, I just checked the local news and another person has been murdered. So sad...

Who knows who I'll vote for in November. I do know that I will be looking at all of the candidates closely.

  1. I try not to vote according to party, though sometimes I wish it were as easy as just picking the person just because they belong to an organization. It's almost a reflex to vote for the party you grew up with (in my case Democrat), but I learned the hard way just cause someone's affiliated with the party you associate yourself with, doesn't mean they're the right candidate or even a good candidate. I figured out it'd be like saying just 'cause someone loves chocolate as much as you do that they'd be your perfect representative. You need to find out just how serious they are about chocolate, and make sure they'd show integrity and have chocolate's best interest at heart. They can't just pay chocolate lip service :)

  2. Yeah, I have never voted strictly party. That would be like letting a blind person be my limo driver.
