B....that's my grade. I'm a little disappointed but I did my best and I definitely know what I need to work on this upcoming semester. In other news, I'm increasing my hours at work. Right now I work 16 hours and have no benefits. And by benefits I mean vacation time. That's right, if I want a day off right now I have to either take "demerits" or rely on other people to cover my shift. So I put in to increase to 20 hours so that I can start earning vacation time. Another benefit I'm missing out on is holiday pay. Sure I get time and a half for working on a particular holiday but I don't currently get the bonus of holiday hours bonus. I could be earning two and a half times pay...what was I thinking? I guess the four hours a day for four days was just too dreamy at the time. I'll find out in a couple of weeks what my new schedule will be. I'm hoping for two six hour days and two four hour days. Keep your fingers crossed for me....

The Move!

Just some random pictures from Jerry's office move.

Lil bit of QT!

Jerry's office is moving this weekend to a larger office space. Thursday he got home around 10:30pm. Last night...well..it moved into this morning around 4:00am. So because I have been missing him I thought I would come help a little bit at the new office setting up whatever they needed help with. I don't really know if it's a good idea, I feel like I might be in the way but I just wanted a lil bit of quality time with him. His new office is nice. Smells like fresh paint and cardboard right now, but I'm sure within a week that "newness" will be gone. I have a feeling that he will be here until the wee hours of the morning again today. I feel silly missing him so much. Most of the people I work with tend to enjoy their time away from their husbands/wives. Guess I'm weird, I actually enjoy the time we are together. Don't get me wrong I like a few hours to myself. He's off doing his managerial things while I play in his office.

OOF!

I tanked my final receptive test. The good news is that the whole class did nearly as bad as me. I do admit that my receptive skills are lacking. I guess I know what I'll be practicing that this summer! Just waiting on one grade to get my total grade. I'm right on the edge of A/B. Silly thing is that 94% is an A at this level...gah!

This makes me smile

We all need some guidance in the dark :) Who wouldn't want these guys helping out. Reminds me, I need to replace in Tabitha's nightlight. Ok..off to take my final. Wheee!

Irth Day!

Happy Irth Day! Earth Day to the rest of the world. Back in college, A good friend of mine, Lloyd Ziel, had an "Irth Day" party. The party started at "The Love Shack", Lloyd's little house that he rented during college. The day consisted of a Scavenger hunt that included picking up most of the items from the trash and of course a keg of beer to make it easier to rummage through trash. Good times...good times.. So be green , have a beer, recycle the bottle/can and enjoy your Earth Day!

Sleepy Saturday

Image
I was up and out of the house around 8:15 this morning to attend a workshop for the Quality Assurance tests here in Florida . It was an informational meeting about what to expect on the written test, what books to study and what to expect on the performance test. Now, at first I wasn't going to go this workshop. Why should I give up a Saturday for something that is over a year away? Yeah, that is where I was wrong. When talking to my professor at school, he informed me that usually his classes take the test at the end of the fall semester. Granted it is still 2 full semesters away it is coming up quicker then I had expected. So I'm really glad I went. Even though it was five and half hours in a classroom. Knowing I had to get up this morning and sit for a good length of time in a classroom, I went to bed at a decent hour. Well, then Jerry and I ended up watching " The 40 Year Old Virgin " for the umpteenth time and laughing through all of it. Then I was so wound up th...

Smokey

Image
The pictures is from NASA's Earth Observatory Website . The past two days have been really hazy here. There are fires north of Jacksonville and the smoke plume is filtering down. Eyes watering, ash taste in your mouth, and the smell are really annoying. Many homes have been lost. It's terrible. I know Jacksonville has been under a "Red Flag" warning on and off for what seems like half a year. The saddest thing is that I still see people throwing their cigarettes out their windows. Idiots! Looks like it might be like this for the next few days. Time to stock up on sinus medicine. heh...

Beer Me

New technology has been developed so that you can be carded right at a vending machine to get a nice cold brew. Check it out. I doubt that uptight Americans will ever let these machines into our country. Grrr!

Wed-nes-day

I wish I had some big revelation or something to talk about but I don't. I'm in the rut of the semester. Just waiting for it to be over. Get all my Deaf Contacts in and stuff like that. I have to do three more contacts to get in before May. I think I'm all set with upcoming events. I'm really not looking forward to the summer semester. Tuesday - 4pm -6:25pm Wednesday - 6pm - 8:40pm Thursday - 4pm - 6:25pm Icky..right? Ah well... Nothing wrong with the daily grind. I am blessed with a drama free life. The daily grind can be comforting

Speed bump

Hoping for a nice relaxing saturday. Nature had other plans for us. The neighbors, who have been MIA for about 3 months, rotten tree decided to take a spill into our drive way. I should have taken pictures earlier as this is about half way thru the removal process. Jerry and his best bud Jay are off to go get a chain for a chainsaw that Jay was able to borrow. You can see more pics here.

Countdown

Image
Three weeks of the semester. Nine more class meetings. I'm excited for the semester to be over. But I'm also frightened. I'm taking two classes this summer. Interactive Interpreting II and Special Topics in Interpreting, both being taught by a professor who I have heard is tough. I know, I shouldn't put "rumors" in my thought cycle but I'm human. In the past I've always tended to get along with the "problem professors". I think mainly because I do my homework and try to come to class as prepared as possible. The other stinky thing about my summer term is that my schedule sucks. Tuesday and Thursday 4 -6pm and Wednesday 6-9pm. Sucky right?!? Ok ..enough of that ramble. The good news about summer is that I'll have most of August off. YAY !! I don't have anything else to countdown.
