Pink Flamingo on Toast

Nothing new here on the Jacksonville front. It's a nice 77 °F here today. Granted I wouldn't mind a few more weeks of 60's. But it's Florida..so it goes. Jerry and I are heavily involved with our online video game. We have gotten in touch with many of our friends from MMO's past. Fun to all be together again. We now represent 5 states and two countries. School is good, I guess..I dunno..having some doubts on my capability of being able to interpret. It just isn't natural yet. I know I'm trying to rush the process. *sigh* I'm not giving up! I know that it might actually take longer than what it is supposed to. My brain just isn't getting the process down quickly. Practice, practice, practice...I know.

As I was driving to work this morning in the 26° weather. (Which isn't bad if you lived in Michigan) I realized that I haven't been out of Jacksonville since March of last year. Usually we take day trips to St. Augustine. Even some overnights to Tampa or Orlando. Not this past 12 months. Needless to say, I have cabin fever! I thought was going to get a break the past August but a school messup meant that my 12 week class ran 16 weeks. So, no break! Over the holidays I had about a month off from school but we were so busy with other things we couldn't get away. My parents are treating us to a cruise this spring break. I can hardly wait. March 19th...one month from today. I can almost taste the Bahama Mamas now.

OK..not really, but my class was cancelled this afternoon. So I'm going to use my time to catch up on Jeanne things. Yup...that could mean reading, or vegging in front of the TV or maybe cleaning or maybe I'll meditate. I'm not really sure yet. And you know what? It doesn't really matter. I'm thankful for the respite.

Are you kidding me? If I lose anything at work it's immediately taken out of my paycheck and replaced. I can't imagine losing something like this. OMG What idiots! Do you think that whoever "lost" the laptops and weapons has their paycheck garnished to recover the loss? not likely. And how do you put a price on information?

The company I work for, CSD , got a new computer system. We were trained back in the first weeks of the year. So from that time up until last Thursday we had no experience with the new system. Thursday was the big day. Apparently the IT guys were there all night setting up the new computers, initializing them, and working out any bugs that the over night crew had. At 7:00am, when I go in, they were still there. 7:00am and 8:00am is when the majority of the day crew comes in. So, they gave me my login on Wednesday, I had to change my password upon logging into the system. Fine, no problem. Well, on Thursday when it was "live" there was an issue. Apparently they didn't have my login tied to my "agent number" so for 14 minutes I just sat there like a bump on pickle waiting for someone to fix it. I wish I had something to blog about but I don't really. Nothing really new. We kind of had the Superbowl on last night but wasn't really paying attention to it. We were "in game" (Vanguard) for most of the evening. I didn't even see any good commercials. All I did catch was the million CBS promos for shows that are mediocre at best. *shrug* School is going good. Lots of re-training of brain. We are now starting the process of Phonemic Shadowing. Basically someone says something and we immediately say or sign it depending on the exercise. My brain is usually mush by the end of class. Game, well... Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is turning out to be very addictive. Jerry and I have been "leveling" all weekend.
