Now what am I gonna do? (tee hee hee)

Image
My class was cancelled I had everything planned out, my dinner, Jerry's dinner, my questions for the quiz due next week and now it's all changed. So hmm...Do I make Fa-Gknee's Frakkin Fajitas tonight or just squirm in on Jerry's Pot Roast and mashed 'taters. I know...I'll let him decide when he gets home. Muwahahaha

I can sign Starbucks

Image
I now know the ASL Sign for Starbucks. I can't tell you how excited that makes me. Where did I learn this? Well, I went to Java Deaf tonight. It was very fun. I met a lot of new people and got to practice some of my signing (I pretty much kept my voice off most of the evening which for anyone who knows me personally, that is amazing). We played games and watched a play. Very very fun. I wanted to stay later but I have to work in the morning. Next Saturday I'm going to a Deaf Picnic. I should get lots more practicing in that way too. I won't have to worry about time as much next weekend either. I will have to make sure I don't get sunburned though. I burn very very easily.

ME SIGN GOOD NOW....NOT *smile*

Class tonight was great! I'm catching on more and more. Soon I'll be able to hold an actual conversations This Friday there is a Deaf Java gathering that a few of us are going to. That should help a lot. I don't get to practice my sign during the week. Tabitha, my cat, doesn't understand it when I talk to her in ASL. Also next Saturday the Deaf Club is having a picnic that a group of us are going to. There are about six of us that meet an hour before class to sign and study. It's great. I'm really making some great friends that will be going through the interpreter program along with me. We are supposed to be practicing our fingerspelling. My fingers just don't want to go that fast. I do try to spell street names as I come up on them when I'm driving. I guess I should just spell everything for a while to get my fingers working. My teacher was fingerspelling double lettered words, ie. attic, Timmy, noodle and I was lost. She told us though...

Some people shouldn't own a computer

Especially if they sign up using my email address for Love@AOL. It was very easy to go in and change this persons information because in the registration email I received was her birth date. Anyway...now her user name at Love@AOL is Dontknwemailaddr and I have changed her password. I also set the preferences so that I no longer receive email (102 in my box today) from potential "dates" for her. *shudder*

Neato Things

A good day for sure I had my ninety day review at work today. 3% ...not bad...still not making anything like I have in the past but I'm not working there for the money. I feel very fortunate that I have the opportunities that I have. My schedule changed again at work. Tomorrow I don't have to get up quite as early as the other days. I get to sleep in. I still have to be at work by 8:30am but it's not 7:00am Went to the movies today and saw " The Da Vinci Code Of course the book is better, that is always true. But over all the movie was good. I honestly don't know why it isn't getting good reviews. Maybe they were wanting to recapture the feeling you get when you read the book. I had just finished the book about 4 weeks ago so the story was still fresh in my mind. I wasn't distracted by that though. Sure I knew what was coming but Ron Howard put together a wonderful adventure story. I would recommend this movie.

Random bits

Work was pretty good today. Not to busy. Was able to read about 60 pages of my book Liars and Thieves by Stephen Coonts . I'm really having fun being a reader. (tee hee hee) I always enjoyed it just never took the time to read. Now I look forward to my reading time. Class tonight. I'm a little nervous because I was doing my homework and felt completely lost. The video we had to watch seemed too advanced for me. I'm hoping I'm not the only one. I hope we go over it in class. I wonder if there are ASL tutors. Da Vinci Code - I'm really looking forward to this movie. The book was great. I am tired of all the hoopla though. It's fiction. I guess I'm at a point in my life that even if it is true that Jesus was married, it doesn't change my beliefs. Enough random thoughts...if I think of anything else..I'll add it...

Wake up and smell the coffee!

What a day! Work was busy this morning. I think the full moon was influencing they type of calls we were getting. I was dragging so I thought I'd swing by the drive thru Starbucks on the way to Weight Watchers (btw, it was a good weigh in day 4.6lbs gone, finally back on track). I ordered my nonfat, no whip cafe and when the girl handed me my drink the lid popped off and hot coffee went down the front of me. Wheeeeeee! Thank goodness I could just weight in and then head home. I still feel like I smell like coffee even though I changed. I did get a coupon for a free drink out of the disaster. They should have given me a new shirt. I am sitting here laughing thinking of the Episode of Seinfeld (The Maestro Episode Number: 113 Season Num: 7 ) where Kramer puts the hot coffee in his pants and goes to the movie and it ends up scalding him. Jackie Chiles: Who told you to put the balm on? I didn't tell you to put the balm on. Why'd you put the balm on? You haven't ev...

Did you call your mama?

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there.

Muggleborn...

I just finished Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince . It took me about an hour to get through the last 50 pages because between tearing up and sniffling and trying to answer calls at work it was a tough time. I won't spoil the book for anyone who hasn't read it. You really should read them though. The series is wonderful! I know that I look forward to J.K. Rowling's next Harry Potter book. Wouldn't it be neat to be able to do spells, hexes and other things. Hmm..what would I do. My house would definately be cleaner! Maybe I just need house elves... It's fun to think about things like that.

Gknee vs. The United States of America?

Commander Adama, in the episode "Bastille Day": "There's a reason you separate the military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people." To me this is the first thing I thought of when I read CNN's Article about our military being used to patrol the borders. I guess the the same quote can be applied to the latest NSA's wiretapping . Why are we letting one branch of the government go unchecked? Why aren't more people outraged on what is happening? How many "law enforcing" agencies do we really need? NSA, Homeland Security, FBI, CIA....it seems like they all have their issues lately. While I'm ranting here...the president before he takes office has to swear an oath. "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to ...

Inspiration

Went to my ASL III class last night. The professor is wonderful. She is a deaf woman. Which means we sign all the time. I love it. I was disappointed last term because it seemed like we didn't sign much. This semester will be a challenge. My friends who were in my last class with me agree that we are a little behind the rest of the students so we stayed after and explained our situation. She understood that we didn't have much conversation time and told us that she will slow her sign down a little. Which is good because to me her hands were flyin! The first 15 minutes of the class I was feeling overwhelmed and by the end I was just inspired to learn more. To be able to communicate better using ASL. Should be a fun semester.

AO-Hell

So I have a friend who works...erm..worked at AOL here in Jacksonville. People had been telling me that they heard the call center was closing so I of course would IM him and he would tell me. "NO..that's just a rumor". Well, apparently "The Man" was lying and they are closing. That's right AOL is laying off 780 people here in Jacksonville. So for all my friends who stayed at AOL I'm truely sorry for your job loss.

05(4|2 |\|0|\/|!|\|4+3|)?

World of Warcraft is putting out a movie?!? So I'm guessing it will be the same type of scene just in different locations. I know that I won't be spending my $7.50 at the box office to see that one.

The waters...

I called the school today and even though I got a few errors registering for the Wednesday night class, still not sure that I want this class that I'm definitely enrolled. So yea...that's been taken care of. I've never been to this campus so of course I'm a little anxious about that. I'm sure I'll be checking out maps tomorrow. I don't know what traffic will be like. I am imagining that it will be pretty bad considering that I have to be there at 6:00pm. Gotta love traffic! Weight Watchers was a total disappointment today. I'm up two pounds. What's up with that?!? I drank more water than I normally do. I thought I did really good. After the meeting I headed to the grocery store. Loaded up on Fat Free Cottage cheese, and lots of fruit. Mangos were on sale, I've never had a mango so I thought what the heck. 2 for $1.00, I'm worth it. I really need to "move" more...exercise...sweating...blech It's raining. We need...

A stone has been tossed...

Well I nearly lost it today. I don't like it when I let things get to me. Today was one of those days that the emotional flood gates flew open. I was just preparing for my upcoming week last night. I thought I better head to the college website to see what classroom my ASL III class was in. When I logged in and clicked on my personal schedule it said I wasn't signed up for any classes this summer. WHAT?!? After being upset and worrying about this all night and most of the morning I called the school today. I knew that it wasn't likely that I would get all my answers today but something. The girl who answered the phone was quite helpful. I apologized in advance to her because I knew I was a little on edge. Apparently the class was cancelled on May 5th at 12:30pm. So 75 hours before the class was to start and no one bothered to call, email, smoke signals...anything to inform me that my class had been cancelled. There is another class that meets Wednesday nigh...

Hold the mayo!

Image
I can't believe I knew/know people who really thought that Cinco De Mayo meant hold the mayo. Feliz Cinco De Mayo mis amigos. Jerry and I will be having some Corona Lights tonight with our Fa-gknee's Fa-jitas!

I'm definately not Martha Stewart

I thought I would try this Chili recipe in one of my Weight Watcher cook books. I was very excited. Went to the store and got my cloves of garlic, onions, cumin, chili powder, broth and meat. The only thing I didn't have is a dutch oven. I don't know if that made the difference or not. So I put in all the ingredients and put it on a slow simmer for what was supposed to be 2 hours. After about an hour I went to check on it....no liquid left at all It's ruined... I wish I knew what I did wrong though. Was my stock pot just too big. I mean the liquid was only about 3 inches deep which I'm thinking made it cook too fast. Gah....I hate failing.
