Happy Halloween

JackOLantern 003 Originally uploaded by gknee . I hope everyone has a fun and spooky day. I've already been attacked by either a ghoul or a ghost. That's what you get for paying off your car loan **UPDATE** It was the fan belt and our local mechanic fixed it and it's back home where it should be. Now Jerry and I don't have to run around tomorrow getting me to school. We have our bag of "Bats & Rats Gummy" candies to give out tonight. MuW aHaHA haha haha

My love/hate relationship with my online class.

Pros: Can do it on my own time. Don't have to sit in a classroom. Don't have to listen to a teacher read to me. Cons: Have to make time. No immediate feedback on questions. Not very interesting discussions because no one is invested. Have to rely on the teacher to be on top of things. Sometimes the Black Board is on the fritz. (I love technology) I'm sure there are more to both sides. I guess today I'm venting because I got my work posted and turned in on time even though the servers were down for most of Sunday and yet I'm having to wait for my teacher to post this weeks assignments. I know...I should be cheering but it doesn't mean she'll give us more time for the assignments. We are still expected to have them done by the end of the week. I used to think I was a patient person but this class is showing me that I still need to work on that. GAH!

Our lil Pumpkins

Image
100_0674 Originally uploaded by gknee . Jerry told me a few days ago that he has never carved a pumpkin for halloween. I couldn't let this go on another year so this afternoon we hit the local pumpkin patch and picked out a couple of pumpkins. We had lofty ideas of doing a stenciled pumpkin on one but found that the pumpkin was just too big, and thick to do that intricate of carving. So we stuck with some free hand Jack O'Lantern faces. We had a blast! It felt good to bring a piece of my childhood to Jerry. Maybe next year we'll get all fancy with our rotund squash.

Perfect day at the Zoo

Image
Jerry and I went to the Zoo today. The weather was perfect. You can take a look at the all the pictures on flickr . I think the best time Jerry had was feeding the birds. I know he couldn't stop smiling. I couldn't either because the birds were squawking in his ear and trying to steal his hat. The worst part of the day was watching people drop their goldfish crackers into the Koi pond. There are signs everywhere not to feed the animals because their diets are specific and maintained by the zoo keepers. They gave you plenty of opportunities to feed the animals. Next time we are going to feed the giraffes. Line was too long today. We've already decided to make another trip there soon to attend all the zoo keeper talks . We kept missing the times because we wanted to see all the animals.

No more card table!

After seven years in this house we finally got a dining room table. It's nice and will comfortably fit the eight people at the table on Thanksgiving. My parents and Jerry's parents both will be joining us for a feast. Jerry took some time off this week. He had to burn it so he didn't lose it. I thought we could go out of town but due to circumstances out of either one of our control we are tied to the area. We did do some shopping today. Got some pretty placemats for the table. A network thingy so that we could add our HD-DVD player to the network. Web-enabled DVD's for the win! Jerry mentioned the Zoo this weekend, the weather looks like it might cooperate. We'll see!

Mozart Bond

From time to time my family comes up with some great things on the web. Thanks to my Mom and Dad to passing it on to me from my brother Joe. They orginally sent me an "I Will Survive" vid which is truely some funny stuff. But I really though this one was clever and wonderful. A treat for any true music lover! My family rocks!

Eleven!

Image
In tarot, card no. 11 is "Justice". Apollo 11 was the first manned spacecraft to land on the Moon. 11 is the atomic number of sodium. The number 11 bus is a low-cost way of sightseeing in London. An eleven -sided polygon is called a hendecagon or undecagon. The 11 th moon of Jupiter is Himalia. In cricket, 11 is the number of players from the fielding (or bowling) side on the field of play at any one time. The number eleven is important in numerology, as it is the first of the Master Numbers. The number of years I have been married to Jerry !

Freak out!

Image
I'm getting to that point in my semester of classes where I start to stress out about things. I know I shouldn't and I guess I'm writing about it so that I can get a grip on how silly it is to stress about things. I can see my hubby's eyes rolling as he reads this. I know it's not healthy but I'm human. I guess knowing that I'm freaking out is the first step into stopping the freaking out. Right?!? Sure...So here I am...not freaking out about things that are so far away it's just silly to freak out about. Maybe I should freak out about how my English grammar has freaked out

All Hail the King!

Image
Throne_for_the_Flood_King Originally uploaded by gknee . Nor'easters struck the first coast again last night. Our neighbors, or the people who are ransacking the house next door, put this on the curb earlier in the day. Driving at this point wasn't too bad as it only went up to the bumper on the Aztek. I'm glad I didn't get out of class any later. An hour after I got home the "Throne" was toppled and the water was over the sidewalk and creeping up our little retaining wall. It's not raining and I'm actually not sure what the forecast is. Strange for anyone that knows me because I have secretly always wanted to be a meterologist and drool at the "Severe Weather" warnings. (although Hurricane Floyd a couple years ago did kinda freak me out). Ok..RAMBLING......
