Dont know why theres no sun up in the sky ...

Stormy weather! I love this kind of weather, but it makes me just want to veg out and watch TV. I did manage to do some laundry though. The only thing bad about this weather is that we live in the Historical part of the city. This means that our power goes out a lot. Even when it's sunny and beautiful...so I'll just hope that part of this stormy weather doesn't come true. School news: Going to be a good semester. I'm taking Transiliteration, Voicing, Special Issues in Educational Interpreting and Interpreting Practicum. The best news is that most of my classes are "in class room work" so not many outside projects. Life news: Not much really going on. Work, school...that's about it. Oh..well.. Jaguar Football. But we didnt' go to the game last night. We gave our tickets to Jerry's sister who is in town for the Labor Day weekend.

Amazing what a difference a day can make. Found out that I don't have to change my Program at school so that means I won't have to take that math class. They retracted an error on the company newsletter so that means the question on the test that they make you take to see if you are reading the newsletter was thrown out. Things are looking up here in Jax.

Schleprock...

As in Bad Luck Schleprock... There are times when I'm almost convinced that I am Bad Luck Schelprock. Thankfully today's Schleprock storm was just a little one. Nothing that can't be fixed or forgotten. Schleprock moments today: Work drama with a mandatory reading of the company news letter. Book store - why don't they ever order enough books? Course program - "Not Found" What does that mean? Possibly math Mortage company - "what do you mean you don't have my payment...the bank shows you do!"

Last weekend of Summer Vacation

This month has flown by. I meant to do so many things but alas my procrastination has gotten the better of me. GAH! No big plans...I actually have a workshop to attend tomorrow to learn some Medical Interpreting stuff. Then it's just a countdown until Tuesday for classes to resume. Wheeeeeee

It's wonderful when it works....

Technology...my friend..my foe. I have this love/hate relationship with technology. Most of the time it's my friend. Lately though it's been giving me some problems. My laptop has been shutting down. At first I thought it was because I only had 3 gig free left on the hard drive. So I moved all my media to my USB Drive, uninstalled some game that I don't play anymore along with several messenger programs now that I use Meebo . Same thing...would shut down. The first time it was very hot in the house and the laptop was very warm, ok hot. So shut it down for a while to cool off and see if that was the problem. Nope...so I did defrag about 3 times. So now I have more then 70% of the drive free, it's all in order and it is still overheating and shutting down. I'm afraid that it's on it's last leg. Too bad because it's been a wonderful laptop. During all of this I had to move my iPod "connection" from my laptop to my desktop. Fun...I los...

Beer + Football + Ignorance = Great Sportsmanship..NOT!

Don't get me wrong. I love a good cuss word at a ref from time to time but is it really necessary to call the team pussies when no one else is yelling anything? Maybe I have become a prude with age. Sure, I could out vulgar anyone if I really tried but I think my circle of friends know when and where to be "ourselves". The reason for this rant is last night Jerry and I went to the preseason game for the Jaguars . I was expecting a hot and humid night of preseason 2nd stringers but it was a comfortable 86°F with a wonderful breeze. The team looked great. Ok sure they need work on some of their catching, pattern running and defense but HELLO it's preseason. Hopefully it will all get worked out in the new few weeks once the roster is a little more concrete. The fans however were lacking in social graces. Maybe I am an elitest. Maybe I think I'm better than them. Maybe I wondered how much of their stereo equipment did they have to sell to get tickets. Although the rud...

Spider

My Uncle Jim died this week. He found out in June that he had advanced cancer and that it had spread to every organ of his body. At 86 years old he decided not to do anything. He said he would rather live his life out with out the side effects of treatment. His wife, my Aunt Helen, broke her hip about the same time he got sick and was in a nursing home. They were seperated those last few months of his life. I can't even imagine not seeing Jerry for that long. My mom did tell me that they did see each other Saturday before he passed away. So that's good. He used to call me Spider...I don't know why...

First of all for the little meterologist in my I am all excited about Tropical Depression #4 in the Atlantic. No I don't want hurricanes to hurt anyone but weather news it my favorite! I wish I was a tornado chaser... ah well... In rememberance of Merv Griffin I give you this:

Georgia on my mind.

Jerry and I are heading up to Georgia to visit with his extended family. They are celebrating Granny's 92nd (or 93rd) birthday. (I'm not sure which). So it will be about 5 hours of driving total, with a few hours of visiting in between. Hopefully it will be an uneventful trip. UPDATE: The candle on the cake said 93..so now I know for sure!

I'm melting....

...Or I would be if I was outside. The heat index is a scorcher here in Jacksonville. Currently feeling like 105° I'm definitely loving my fans and AC. Nothing else really new going on. Jerry and I have been doing our regular routines. Last night Jerry did take me to Mimi's Cafe for dinner. It was nice, and their Corn Chowder was very good. This Sunday we are heading up to Nashville, Georgia for Jerry's grandmother's 93rd (I think) birthday. I hope there is homemade twice baked macaroni and cheese...that makes the 5 hours of travel there and back a little more pleasant. I think I'll load up my Ipod with some movies from TiVo to make the drive too.

No spoilers here!

Just finished the last book in the Harry Potter series . It's been fun keeping up with Harry, Ron, and Hermione through the years. The best thing is that anytime I would like to visit with them, I can simply pick up one of the books (I sound like an afterschool special that is pushing reading on kids...eep!)

Flash!...Ahhhhhhh

> It's been crazy here this weekend. Why you ask? Because every time I see the Flash Gordon promo on the SciFi channel for their upcoming show I break into a chorus of Queen's Flash Gordon Theme song. Not only did we watch the new " Savior of the Universe " version of the movie tonight but we have been watching the old Serials as well. It's been a fun week going around belting out the theme song randomly. Hoping this Friday nights premier of the new series will be as fun.

Summers are like winter up north.

It's hot, humid and usually raining so we stay in. Not all days...but the sticky ones for sure. This weekend has been one of those weekends were Jerry and I have been MMO game-a-holics. We have a blast trying to kill the epic beasts with our little avatars. We have even evolved so that we don't fight about how to kill the "beast" anymore. Ahhh...relationship growth. Sure we venture out to have lunch with friends but only to rush home to see if we can finally kill the beast that nearly finished us off earlier. Ok..that was a little exaggeration, it rarely takes us two times to kill something. MUWAHAHA! Something about running around a virtual world with the one you love seems to make us closer. Crazy I know...but that's how we roll!
